In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Paul is not speaking of a meager, measured forgiveness. He speaks of the riches of grace. Abundance, not minimum.
Redemption means: You are bought free. Not on probation. Not under conditions. Free. And the forgiveness is not your merit but the result of his blood. You cannot improve it, and you cannot lose it.
Where fear rules, love is displaced. But where you see the riches of grace, fear gives way, because you realize how deeply you are held.
