Father, thank you for this couple and this day.

Let your love be the foundation of their marriage.

Grant patience, forgiveness and joy in everyday life.

Let Christ be the third in their bond.

Amen.

Realization in the New Covenant

Marriage in the New Covenant is an image of Christ and the church (Eph 5:25-33). It is not about fulfilling duty, but about love that gives, because it has received.

  • ›Foundation: Forgiveness in marriage comes from knowing that you yourself are forgiven (Eph 4:32). Those who have received can pass it on
  • ›No rules, but grace: A marriage in Christ lives by grace, not by contract. God is a covenant God, faithfulness stands, even when you are weak (2 Tim 2:13)
  • ›Identity: Two human beings who know who they are IN Christ can love each other in freedom, without fear, without control
  • ›Blessing: Marriage is God's idea (Gen 2:18). He said: "It is not good for the human being to be alone", BEFORE the fall

Prayer in the New Covenant

Father, thank You for this marriage. In Christ bless it. Give love, faithfulness and forgiveness. Lead them in unity and let Christ be visible in daily life. Amen.
