Prayer for Humility (Phil 2:5-11)

Original Prayer

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name.

Humility and devotion of Jesus; service.

Realization in the New Covenant

Philippians 2 shows: Jesus did not come in humility out of weakness but out of absolute security.

›He knew who He was, and therefore He could serve.
›Humility in the New Covenant comes from identity security, not from self-diminishment.
›You are a new creation (2 Cor 5:17), you are accepted, and precisely because of that you can serve without losing yourself.

Prayer in the New Covenant

Jesus, thank You for Your example. Shape my heart after Yours. I receive humility that comes from security, not from insecurity. Let me serve without losing myself. Amen.
