For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Paul draws the sharpest contrast: wages versus gift. Sin pays out, death. God gives, life.
In the New Covenant the gift has won. You no longer live under the wages of sin but under Gods gift. Eternal life is not a distant hope, it is a present reality in Christ.
Today you can receive the gift instead of fearing the wages.
Truth & Application
Truth: Eternal life is not just a future hope but a present gift in Christ. You no longer live under the wages of sin. The gift has won. You have passed from death to life, now.
Today practically: If hopelessness knocks today, answer: I live in Gods gift. Death no longer has the last word.
Question for you: Where are you still living as if the wages of sin applied instead of the gift of life?
Prayer
Father, thank you for the gift of eternal life in Christ. Thank you that I no longer stand under the wages of sin. Today I receive life. I release fear of death and hopelessness. Holy Spirit, make eternal life present to me today. Amen.
