Lyrics

I hear your words but I can read your eyes There are stories you keep deep inside In your silence there's a raging storm That only the heart can form I can read you like an open book Even when you skip the lines I should Between the lines that's where I find you Between the lines nothing is lost I hear your laughter I see your scars Between the lines you're here with me Your hands are speaking more than you do A trembling note in the breath you choose And every phrase you never say Is a verse that with me will stay I can read you like an open book Even when you skip the lines I should Between the lines that's where I find you Between the lines nothing is lost I hear your laughter I see your scars Between the lines you're here with me Maybe you don't need to explain I'll be right here holding you close 'Cause I know you are more Than you will ever show Between the lines that's where I find you Between the lines nothing is lost I hear your laughter I see your scars Between the lines you're here with me Between the lines that's where I find you Between the lines nothing is lost I hear your laughter I see your scars Between the lines you're here with me

About this song

2 Corinthians 3:6: "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."

Mike's track title "Between the Lines" is the application of this Spirit reading. The idiom "reading between the lines" means grasping the unspoken meaning. Mike imports the picture for Scripture reading.

Whoever reads the Bible only as letter has not understood it. Whoever reads it as Spirit, that is: with openness for what the Holy Spirit personally says, receives more than information. He receives life.

Luke 24:32, the Emmaus disciples after the Yeshua encounter: "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" Yeshua opened the Scriptures, not intellectually, but heart-burning.

Mike's track is an invitation to deeper Bible reading. Read slowly. Read meditatively. Listen to the Spirit. What is between the lines is often more than what is on the lines. Mike's sound carries this contemplative reading exercise.
