Home Group Session 5: Home Group on the Street, Acts of Blessing, Park Bench Conversations, Bold Obedience

Part 1: For the Home Group Leader, leading & impulse

Goal of the session: encourage participants to see the home group not as a closed group, but as a living community that lets itself be set in motion. It is not about street preaching, but about a listening heart, bold obedience and lived love, where people are. Church becomes visible when we go out. ⏱ approx. 60-75 minutes

📚 Preparation: Luke 10:1-9 | Acts 3:1-10 | Matthew 28:18-20

📖 Key verse

Luke 10:9, "Heal the sick there and say to them: The kingdom of God has come near to you."

Opening, ask the circle:

Short impulse: mobile in the New Covenant

1. The Holy Spirit is not bound to a place

The temple is now in us (1 Cor 6:19). That means: we carry God's presence to where we are, whether in the park, while shopping or on the bus. Your daily life can be a space of encounter.

2. Courage begins in the small

Not everyone is called to preach, but everyone can speak blessing. An honest conversation, an open ear, a prayer or an invitation, the kingdom of God comes through closeness.

3. Healing, help, hope, on the way

Acts 3 shows: Peter and John had no gold, but they gave what they had, the power of Jesus. The same applies to us: we pray in Jesus' name because HE lives in us. We may act in faith because he has already accomplished everything.

4. The bread that gives life

Jesus says: "This is my body, which is given for you" (Luke 22:19). We now carry this body, we are his body. Wherever we go, his provision may flow. The "bread" is not only sacrament, it is the expression of divine reality in daily life. 📝 Part 2: participant folder Personal reflection: read Luke 10:1-9. Underline what amazes you. What of this seems challenging? Questions:

Where are you regularly on the move, with open eyes?

What keeps you from simply speaking a blessing over someone? Do you believe that God also wants to work through you in everyday life?

What could you practically do this week to "make Jesus visible"? Small group exchange:

"What would be a simple form of lived love on the street?" Examples:

Hand out free coffee and listen Pass out flowers with words of blessing Speak spontaneous encouragement to people

Pray on park benches: "Jesus, whom do you want to meet today?" Bible verse / encouragement notes in mailboxes Exercise:

Everyone writes down a simple action they want to do consciously in the next 7 days. Short, honest, doable.

Part 3: What comes now?, concrete suggestion

1. Challenge:

Meet someone from the group outside (park, café, street), and ask together: "Jesus, whom do you want to bless today?"

2. Prepare a blessing sentence:

Practice a personal blessing sentence: e.g. "I speak peace over you, in the name of Jesus." / "God sees you. You are valuable."

3. Plan a testimony evening:

In 1-2 weeks the home group meets again and shares what was experienced on the way, with all highs and "nothing-happened" moments.

🎯 Note to the leader

Do not expect the big action. Begin with the heart. People see genuineness, not methods. Jesus becomes visible where we show not ourselves but HIM.
