Prayer for the Sick Around You

Original Prayer

Father, I bring you the sick people in my life by name.

Touch them with your healing power.

Comfort them, where there is pain. Give them strength, where they are weak.

Make your nearness tangible.

Amen.

Context (Old Covenant)

Modern prayer for the sick in one's circle. New Covenant: by his stripes we are healed (1 Pet 2:24).

What it teaches

Compassion; intercession; hope.

Realization in the New Covenant

Healing is paid for in the finished work. "By his wounds you have been healed" (1 Pet 2:24) is fact, not metaphor. You do not pray as a beggar, but in authority (Luke 10:19).

  • Three ways: Communion with faith (eating), praying in tongues (speaking), authority (commanding), these are the New Covenant tools for healing
  • No begging: You speak healing OUT. "Bone, stand up; blood, flow healthy", as Jesus spoke: in authority, not as a wish
  • Heart dimension: Healing IS paid for, but your heart must be able to receive it. Tear down the heart firewall through repetition of the truth
  • Jehovah Rapha: "I am the LORD, your healer" (Exod 15:26). The Spirit gives life to your mortal body (Rom 8:11)
  • Finished: It is not "God heals sometimes." It is: God HAS healed. The only question is whether your heart lets it through

Prayer in the New Covenant

Father, in Christ I bless this one in the name of Jesus. Sickness, leave. Body, align yourself. Peace of God, fill heart and mind. Amen.
