Prayer for Release from Bitterness

Original Prayer

Father, I bring you everyone who has hurt me.

I let go of all bitterness and entrust the wounds to you.

Let your forgiveness flow through me toward them.

Free me from any root that grew there.

Amen.

Context (Old Covenant)

Modern prayer for release from bitterness. New Covenant: forgive as you have been forgiven (Eph 4:32).

What it teaches

Heart hygiene; forgiveness; freedom.

Realization in the New Covenant

Bitterness is poison you drink yourself.

  • In the New Covenant you have the power to forgive because you were forgiven (Eph 4:31-32).
  • Forgiveness is a decision, not a feeling.
  • You release the other one not because they deserve it but because you want to be free. In Christ you are free, also from bitterness.

Prayer in the New Covenant

Father, I release bitterness. Thank You that I am free in Christ. Fill my heart with love and truth. I receive steps of reconciliation. Amen.
