Prayer Before Decisions (Col 3:15-17)

Original Prayer

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Context (Old Covenant)

Word of Paul (Col 3:15-17), New Covenant guidance for decisions: peace of Christ as inner compass.

What it teaches

Peace as a guide; gratitude; letting the word of Christ dwell richly.

Realization in the New Covenant

Colossians 3:15-17 is a New Covenant instruction for daily life:

  • "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts", Peace as inner compass for decisions
  • You have the mind of Christ (1Cor 2:16). He guides you through inner peace or unease.
  • "Whatever you do, do it in the name of Jesus", Not as formula but as identity: You act as God's child.
  • Gratitude is the keynote of the New Covenant. From gratitude you decide clearly.

Prayer in the New Covenant

Father, I align with the peace of Christ. Let this peace guide my decision. I receive wisdom and act in gratitude, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
