I write these things to you that you may know that you have eternal life. John wants to create certainty, not insecurity. You should KNOW, not hope, not pray, not worry.
Eternal life is not a reward after death. It is a present reality. You have it now. And this knowledge gives you authority because you no longer live from fear but from security.
Authority does not come from loud behavior. It comes from knowing who you are and what you have. You have eternal life. Now.
Truth & Application
Truth: You have eternal life now, not later. John writes so that you KNOW it. This knowledge gives you standing and authority because insecurity no longer needs to control you.
Practical today: When insecurity arises, speak out: I know that I have eternal life. That stands. Then act from this knowledge.
Question for you: Where are you still living in insecurity about something that has long been settled?
Prayer
Father, thank you that I have eternal life now. I do not have to worry. John wrote so that I would know. Today I live from this knowledge. I release insecurity about my standing. Holy Spirit, strengthen the certainty in me today. Amen.
