1 Peter 5:7

Casting Your Cares

Verse

Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Thought

Peter doesn't say: Ignore your worries. He says: Cast them on God. That's an active process. You take what burdens you and consciously hand it over. Why? Because he cares for you. Not because you deserve it, but because he loves you.

Worrying is often an attempt to keep control. But in the New Covenant, you can let go because someone else carries the responsibility. Not indifference, but trust.

Today: Actively cast one worry onto God and leave it there.

Truth & Application

Truth: Releasing your worries is not a sign of weakness but of trust. God invites you to give him what weighs you down because he cares for you.

Today practically: Name one specific worry and say consciously: "Father, I give this to you." Then leave it with him.

Question for you: What worry are you carrying that doesn't actually belong to you?

Prayer

Father, thank you that you care for me. Today I consciously cast my worries on you. I let go of what presses and holds me inside. You carry it better than I can. Holy Spirit, remind me when I try to pick those worries back up. Amen.
