John 10:10

New Identity

Verse

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Thought

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. Jesus speaks these words before the cross, they reveal His heart. The full foundation was laid at the cross and explained in the epistles.

A glance in the mirror can awaken old labels: "not enough," "too late," "too broken." But your identity in the New Covenant is not your past. You are made new. God did not repair you, He recreated you.

Abundant life does not start someday. It starts with recognizing who you already are.

Truth & Application

Truth: Jesus came so you would have life in abundance, not life on minimum. Your new identity in Christ is not an "improved version of before" but completely new. The old has passed away.

Today practical: Make a decision today that fits your new identity. Something the "old person" would not have done.

Question for you: Which old label are you still sticking on yourself that no longer fits?

Prayer

Father, thank You that You give me not just life but abundant life. Thank You that I am new, not repaired but recreated. Today I receive Your view of me. I release old descriptions that no longer apply. Holy Spirit, show me today what abundant life looks like. Amen.
