Psalm 23:4: "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Mike's track "When the Night Falls" stands in the long tradition of blues, spirituals, and dark songs born from real suffering. Mahalia Jackson sang "His Eye Is on the Sparrow", comfort through the darkest nights of the Jim Crow era. The Black Christian tradition turned Matthew 10:29-31 (the verse on the sparrows' provision) into a sound that still carries today.
Mike's track stands in this sound tradition. When the night falls, do not fear. The Father is with you. Not because the night goes away, but because he carries it with you. That is not optimism. That is comfort at eye level with the pain.
Mike's sound carries this comfort tone. Whoever hears the track in a dark phase hears no sermon. He hears companionship. Mike sings along, instead of preaching about it. That is the depth of this track.
