Grown in Truth

About this song
This English version of Gewachsen in Wahrheit carries a theological core that Mike names in the description himself. True growth in Messiah does not begin with effort. It begins with receiving what he has already finished. "I receive what you have finished. My foundation holds secure." That is not passivity. It is the recognition of the One who has already done what was needed.
Hebrews 10:14 carries the theological root: "For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are sanctified." In the Greek text the word is teteleíōken (τετελείωκεν), meaning: made complete, finished, brought to maturity. Whoever receives the work of Messiah does not begin in unfinishedness. He begins in completion.
The central line of the song describes a place that came into language only through Paul. Ephesians 2:6: "And has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua." The song renders this as: "United with you I stand there. Heaven keeps me here right now." Here and there at the same time. Whoever has understood this does not grow from below upward. He grows from above downward.
The bridge takes up the royal language that resonates with particular strength: "A royal heart, born of spirit and truth. My place secure, my path made clear. Christ has overcome. His victory lives in me." Colossians 2:9-10 had named this position theologically with precision: "For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power."
The song closes with the simplest and deepest confession: "Christ lives, and his life carries me." Whoever has received this stops carrying himself. He is carried. And in this carried-being grows what Mike calls Truth. Truth that was not laid on from outside but ripens from within.
