Lyrics

You talk about heaven but you can't see Standing in the light yet you don't believe The answer's right there knocking on your door But you're spinning in circles lost even more I'm knocking loud I'm calling your name But you stay in your own grey frame Blindfolded mind but I won't let you go Pull back the curtain let the truth show Blindfolded mind come let's take a walk Out there's a life so much more than you thought You say it's fine but it slips through your hand Losing your grip on the shifting sand I'm holding the compass pointing the way But you turn aside when the truth wants to stay I'm knocking loud I'm calling your name But you stay in your own grey frame Blindfolded mind but I won't let you go Pull back the curtain let the truth show Blindfolded mind come let's take a walk Out there's a life so much more than you thought I'll stand right here until you see You're so much more than you believe The road's been waiting all this time If you'd just trust and make it mine I'll stand right here until you see You're so much more than you believe The road's been waiting all this time If you'd just trust and make it mine I'm knocking loud I'm calling you out And pulling you free from your shadow and doubt Blindfolded mind but I won't let you go Pull back the curtain let the truth show Blindfolded mind come let's take a walk Out there's a life so much more than you thought Blindfolded mind but I won't let you go Pull back the curtain let the truth show Blindfolded mind come let's take a walk Out there's a life so much more than you thought More than you thought more than you thought

About this song

Mike's application of the hardening diagnosis. "Blindfolded Mind" is a concrete picture: a blindfold on the mind.

John 12:40 (quoting Isaiah): "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn, and I would heal them."

In the Greek original it is tetýphlōken (τετύφλωκεν), "he has blinded" (perfect tense of typhlóō). That is a hard statement: the blinding can be allowed by God as the consequence of repeated rejection of the truth.

Mike's track is confrontation with one's own hardening. There is the phrase "willful ignorance", intentional unknowing. That is Mike's diagnosis: many Christians are not unbelieving, they are willfully blind.

Practically: where have you put on a blindfold? Which truth do you not want to see? Honest answer is the beginning of healing. Mike's sound carries this self-examination with sharp clarity.
