, A clear and complete explanation in light of the Bible,
Jesus is God himself, made visible in human form.
Heart of the New Covenant
1. The Word that became flesh
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:14)
Jesus is:
- God from the beginning
- not created, eternally existing
- not another God, the Word of God himself
- God in action, made visible
2. He is addressed as God himself
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever." (Hebrews 1:8 / Psalm 45)
God the Father calls the Son "God". The angels worship him. He reigns eternally.
"You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth..." (Hebrews 1:10)
The text calls Jesus: the Creator, Lord, eternal, GOD.
3. People worship him, and Jesus accepts it
In the Bible it is forbidden to worship anyone other than God.
Yet Jesus is worshiped, and accepts it:
Matthew 14:33, the disciples worship him.
John 20:28, Thomas calls him "My Lord and my God."
Jesus does not rebuke him, he praises him.
"Because you have seen me, you have believed..."
Hebrews 1:6: "Let all God's angels worship him!"
Revelation 5:13-14: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!"
Jesus is worshiped together with the Father.
He receives worship and does not refuse it. If he were not God, that would be blasphemy. But because he is, it is justified.
4. Jesus and the Father, one
"I and the Father are one." (John 10:30)
"Whoever has seen me has seen the Father." (John 14:9)
"No one knows the Father, only the Son. And anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." (Matthew 11:27)
Jesus is not a second God. He is one with God. Not two Gods, but one God in three persons.
5. Immanuel, God with us
"They will call him Immanuel, which means: God with us." (Matthew 1:23)
In Jesus, God himself came to live among us.
6. Jesus claims to be God
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
"Before Abraham was, I am." (John 8:58)
That is the name of God from Exodus 3, "I AM WHO I AM".
The Jews wanted to stone him for this, because Jesus claimed to be God.
7. Jesus as Creator
"Through him all things were created, in heaven and on earth..." (Colossians 1:16)
"All things were made through the Word..." (John 1:3)
Jesus was not a spectator, not just a co-creator, but God himself as the origin of all things.
8. Why this matters
If Jesus is not God, then his sacrifice is not perfect, not eternal, not final.
But because he is God himself, his redemption is:
- boundless
- complete
- unshakable
"For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily." (Colossians 2:9)
9. Conclusion
Jesus is not just a teacher, not just a prophet, not just an example.
He is God himself, who came to save us.
Only in him do you know God, live in the truth, honor the Father. Because Father and Son are one.
