Prayer for Guilt Feelings (Rom 8:1)

Original Prayer

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Context (Old Covenant)

Word of Paul (Rom 8:1), central New Covenant statement: shame and condemnation are over in Christ.

What it teaches

Distinction between guilt and condemnation; freedom in Christ.

Realization in the New Covenant

Romans 8:1 is one of the clearest sentences of the New Covenant: No condemnation for those in Christ.

  • Guilt feelings after the cross are not from God but leftovers of old thinking or accusation from the enemy.
  • The Holy Spirit convicts (shows direction), He does not condemn (press down). Forgiveness is finished (Heb 10:14), not dependent on your feelings.

Prayer in the New Covenant

Father, thank You: in Christ there is no condemnation. I receive Your acceptance. Show me what I should change, and I receive strength to do it. I release guilt feelings that are not from You. Amen.
