Prayer for Provision (Mt 6:33 / Phil 4:19)
Original Prayer
Context (Old Covenant)
Word of Jesus (Matt 6:33). Spoken before the cross; in the New Covenant, provision flows from sonship and Christ within (Phil 4:19).
What it teaches
Priorities; trust; God's provision.
Realization in the New Covenant
Matthew 6:33 (before the cross) and Philippians 4:19 (after the cross) speak about provision:
- ›Mt 6:33: "Seek first the kingdom of God", Jesus teaches priorities BEFORE the cross
- ›Phil 4:19: "My God will supply all your needs", Paul AFTER the cross: Provision is a promise
- ›In the New Covenant: You are provided for because you are God's child, not because you "sought" enough
- ›Receiving provision means: Trust, act, and take open doors
- ›God is not a vending machine, but he is a good Father (Mt 7:11)
Prayer in the New Covenant
Father, thank you for providing, because you are a good Father. I bring you my needs and receive wisdom, diligence, and open doors. I trust your goodness and act from faith. Amen.
