John 15:5

New Identity

Verse

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit.

Thought

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit. Jesus speaks this before the cross. The foundation for what "abiding in Him" means after the cross is found in the epistles.

You are a branch, connected to the vine. Fruit does not come through effort but through connection. You do not need to "do more" to bear fruit. You may abide, and fruit comes naturally.

Your new identity is: connected. Not disconnected, not on trial, connected to the source of all life.

Truth & Application

Truth: John 15:5 shows that fruit comes from connection, not from effort. You are connected to Christ like a branch to the vine. Your task is to abide, not to struggle.

Today practical: When you feel today that you need to "do more," pause. Fruit grows from connection. Simply stay connected.

Question for you: Where are you trying to force fruit through effort instead of letting it grow through connection?

Prayer

Father, thank You that I am connected to Christ, like a branch to the vine. Thank You that fruit grows from connection, not from my effort. Today I simply stay connected. I release performance pressure. Holy Spirit, let fruit grow through me today. Amen.
